Job Description:

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for designing and developing training programs/courses as well as updating existing programs/courses, which could be classroom-based (face-to-face), electronic (e-learning), or blended. The position will handle post-basic and advance programs/courses (i.e., for Sun Life rookie, tenured and productive advisors/managers).

The position shall conduct formal periodic training needs analyses, and shall be expected to recommend innovative solutions to improve the program offerings of STD.

The position is responsible for training internal and external trainers/resources who will be subsequently conducting the courses. In the case of special programs/courses that require external resource persons, the position shall also assist in identifying, qualifying, accrediting, and validating such external resources.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Facilitate formal training needs analysis (TNA) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) according to set standards, procedures, and schedules; conduct research, identify relevant trends, and recommend innovative solutions that will improve STDs training offerings and modules to new recruits/rookies, and intermediate advisors.

  • Design, manage and revise the development of new training programs/courses/projects/initiatives (traditional), update/improve existing training programs/courses/projects/initiatives, to meet the training needs and requirements of SLF agency (specific to new recruits, rookies, tenured and productive advisors/managers) based on results of TNAs, research, and evaluation from Learning Analytics

  • Develop standard training materials and tools (traditional), which may include but not limited to presentation decks, storyboards, handouts, assessment tools, program description and guidelines, related communication (e.g., welcome email), FAQs and support scripts to new recruits, rookies, intermmediate advisors and Field Managers.

  • Conduct/Facilitate training the trainers workshop relating to basic to intermmediate and advance programs.

  • Prepare criteria for accreditation/validation of external resource persons and programs. Assist in identifying, qualifying, accrediting, and validating external resource persons and programs relevant to the advisor’s and manager’s training needs.

  • Coordinate STD’s Distribution development team, Sales (Cluster Heads, Regional Sales Managers), Product Development Group and other groups concerned for the development/improvement of training programs that will meet the agency force training requirements.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of educational principles and methodologies (i.e., global industry-accepted within the past 3 years).

  • Technical skills acquired from actual experience and formal training in curriculum and instructional design and development.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledgeable in the use of modern technologies in education/training.

  • Excellent research and organization skills.

  • High level of critical-thinking, creativity, and innovation.

  • Excellent in oral and written communication.

  • Adept in industry-accepted project management methodologies, and has demonstrable skills in project management.

  • Graduate of a 4-year degree course related to education, behavioural sciences, business, communication arts, or organizational communication.

  • Masteral units or degree in related/significant fields is an advantage.

  • Formal training on curriculum design or instructional design.

  • At least (5) years work experience in a similar or related position. Otherwise, at least (5) years related work experience in an educational, school, or training environment.

  • At least (3) years verifiable experience in developing educational programs/courses for adult learners.

  • Formal training and actual work experience in project management.

  • Knowledge and experience in multimedia production is an advantage.

  • Experience in a financial or life insurance company is an advantage.
