Job Overview:

The Telecommunication Engineer II will support the Telecom infrastructure within and between corporate sites. Support includes, but is not limited to design documentation, cross functional planning, maintenance and testing of systems and deployment of gear for both VoIP and TDM technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality if voice communications and global telecommunications equipment and networks at Concur. The role ensures uninterrupted access to all voice telecommunication and features including voicemail, ACD and PBX systems. Responsible for enforcement of policies and procedures, engineering, analytical tasks, and activities associated with areas within the telecommunications function (e.g., network design, engineering, implementation, troubleshooting and diagnosis, maintenance and operation, and user support).


  • Team with other Business units and technical staff supporting the enterprise to evolve and maintain Concur's worldwide voice network.

  • Troubleshoot complex multi-area issues to identify root cause and corrective action

  • Lead the planning of incremental improvements, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise voice network. Primarily focusing on support of converged technologies and applications with an emphasis on Cisco CUCM and Avaya systems.

  • Integrate IM/Chat with Voice System for status and UC Collaboration needs

  • Setup, Configuration and support of SIP trunks and clients

  • Support Avaya Voice Messaging Systems and transmission hardware as well as intra campus transmission circuits and termination hardware. Provide Project Management for site upgrades, local and remote system installations and new Program start-ups.

  • Experience interfacing with LEC/IXC account reps and technical liaisons.

  • Develop strategic telephony and collaboration plans that optimize business collaboration across the Concur enterprise and with suppliers and customers. Design and oversee implementation of enterprise data networks (WAN, MAN, LAN, WLAN, Internet).

  • Resolve critical network problems. Monitor and analyze applications data and voice network traffic to characterize performance and predict impacts due to network changes.

  • Provide communications technology consulting expertise to Concur.

  • Provide Business Application Support to end users.

  • Mentor junior/associate network engineers.

  • Be aware of, and comply with, all corporate policies.

Position Requirements: Education, Experience & Training required:

  • BS engineering or equivalent. 2 years experience in the Telecommunications and/or Data network field with experience working with PBX*s, Voice Messaging Systems and Transmission Systems, voice gateways, data/voice routers, and switches.

  • Experience implementing/supporting VoIP technologies is required.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US government security clearance.

  • CCNP or equivalent desired.

  • Ability to pass a background check.

Job Specific Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

  • Data Network experience is highly desired.

  • Extensive knowledge with Cisco CUCM and/or Avaya PBX, ACD and Voice Messaging Systems.

  • Knowledge of emergency 911 and E911 system interfaces. Proficient communication skills in dealing with customers, employees, management and vendors. Must be proficient in leading people, executing programs and projects, and getting solid results while building the knowledge and expertise of the telecommunications team.

  • Understanding and working knowledge of Networking and Unix / Linux Systems to be able to support various Unified Communications Components

  • Understanding and working knowledge of Unified Communications Platforms, their Integration needs, Soft and Hard VoIP device management, SIP protocol based device management.

  • In-Depth VoIP/Voice experience with Avaya or Cisco UCUM is a must.

  • Media Gateway integration and configuration experience (Audiocodes, Dialogic, NET)

  • Must be proficient in managing a worldwide telecommunications network which consist of PBXs, Voice Messaging Systems, DDM1000/2000 and D4 muxs, DACS, ISDN PRI/BRI circuits, fiber and copper MDF/IDF wiring architectures and all associated test equipment required to maintain voice networks.
